Marx Stock Number: 2085
Produced: 1973-1975
Sheriff Garrett was another late arrival to the Marx 12” figure arena. It was essentially a Bill Buck body molded in steel or royal blue, with a unique Garrett head with a mustache and silver / gray hair. The Bill Buck body molds were also updated with better shoulder joints, rivets etc., and a star was added to the chest mold. His accessories were essentially like Johnny West accessories except they were molded in black soft vinyl and silver poly-plastic. Mold tooling was done to add two poly-plastic stars to the molds. The first Garrett was sold in a MOD “cactus” style box, followed by the “BOTW” packaging in 1974. In 1975, the JWA series changed the accessory mold colors to white soft vinyl, and blue poly-plastic. Red Vinyl neckerchiefs were also included in sets. In 1975 to my knowledge all Garretts were molded in the royal blue color. For whatever reasons, Canada did not produce the Sheriff Garrett. Instead they made there own unique figure called Sheriff Thomas Goode, which I will cover separately. Our books and modules show excellent differences in full color for variations of these figures, check out the book section for more details. The Canadian Module alone has 44 pages of details on Canada produced figures.
